    • Zimbabwe enjoys a moderate climate. Summer (October to April) is hot and generally sunny in the morning with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Low-lying areas such as Kariba, Victoria Falls and the Zambezi Valley are considerably warmer all year round. The rainy season runs from November to March, although the Eastern Highlands are damp for most of the year. In Winter (May to September), days are dry, sunny and cool-to-warm whilst evening temperatures can drop sharply.
    • July to August is the peak travel season for Victoria Falls, whilst September to October is the most popular time for wildlife viewing.

    Language & Currency

    • Zimbabwe is a multilingual country with 16 official languages: Chewa, Chibarwe, English, Kalanga, Koisan, Nambya, Ndau, Ndebele, Shangani, Shona, Sotho, Tonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa, and the Zimbabwean Sign Language. Shona and Ndebele are the dominant languages spoken. English is the language of business and tourism, and most people speak at least two languages in Zimbabwe.
    • The local currency is the Zimbabwean RTGS dollar. US dollars, South African rand, Pound sterling, Euros and Botswana pula are widely accepted. Shops typically price goods and services in RTGS dollars; however, some businesses may price in US dollars. Always check which currency you are buying in as the symbol for both is $. Credit cards are increasingly accepted; however, some businesses accept cash only. Always check, in advance, what payment methods are accepted. Tourist visas can often be obtained, on arrival, at most ports of entry. For entry visas on arrival, payment is by cash (USD). The Zimbabwean government has introduced an online ‘e-visa’ application system for obtaining tourist visas in advance of travel.
    • Zimbabwe has three international airports; Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare (HRE), Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport in Bulawayo (BUQ) and Victoria Falls Airport in Victoria Falls (VFA). You can also fly into Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport, formerly Livingstone Airport, in Livingstone Zambia (LVI) when visiting Victoria Falls (visa required).
